"This I Believe" Essay 3

"Seeing Beyond Our Differences" by Sheri White tells us that everyone is different, but we are all humans and should embrace what makes us unique. Humans are 99.9% the same, but we each have qualities that make us different from each other. Her parents had different racial backgrounds, but they still acted as one and moved in sync. Everyone is different, whether it be physical differences, racial, religious, or even one's sexuality. We have the qualities that make us different from the person standing beside us, but on the inside we are biogenically built the same.

"This I Believe" Essay 2

"The Magic of Letters" by Chameli Waiba, is about a girl who did not learn to read until she was an adult. She did not go to school and was illiterate. She realized that knowing words could change her life. She wanted to learn to read and write to change how she did and understood things. The knowledge that letters brought her also brought self-confidence. She changed her community and became more active and changed other's lives to give them access to letters and learning that she never had. This was all because she learned the magic of letters.

"This I Believe" Essay 1

Macklin Levine wrote "The Beatles Live On" for the love that she had for this particular rock band. She relates their music to her everyday life and her father. She believed you could learn about yourself from their heartfelt lyrics. The essay relates to her family and keeps all the memories alive. Her father passed away, but the Beatles keep her memory of him alive. Music played an important in this young girl's life, as it does in many others. Just like her dad passing away, The Beatles had broken up as well, but the memories of both them still live on.

Ways To Be A Successful College Student

To be successful at writing papers, there are small goals to set. One of the six secrets of college success will be showing up to class every day. Being a college is not easy, and with workouts at six every morning it is hard to go to class when all you do is want to take a nap. I can only learn when I show up for class, ready to put forth the effort to be a better writer. Another secret to college success I plan to put action behind is putting away distractions in class, such as my cellphone. Our generation is based on technology, and kids my age are always seen with a cellphone in their hands, on social media and talking to friends. If I can make it class and give English my full attention every Monday and Wednesday, I can be a successful college student.

Improving the Writing

English has always been my strong point in school. Writing comes naturally, but there are areas where I struggle because nobody is perfect. In this class, I hope to make my writing flow. I have a tendency to get eager while writing, and my paper jumps from topic to topic. After a revision, it usually makes more sense, but in the moment my fingers are flying over the keyboard with ideas. I also get stuck while writing. I will have ideas that make sense in my head, but I can struggle transfer those ideas from my brain to my paper. I want to learn how to make a stronger thesis statement, because I get the key point of a thesis statement, but I am looking to make them longer and stronger.

I am Caelyn Griffin

I am Caelyn Elizabeth Griffin, and I play softball here at Chattahoochee Valley Community College. I have always loved softball, but have also played many other sports throughout my adolescent years. I come from Oklahoma, I grew up on a ranch, and competitive horse riding was my first hobby. I did rodeos every weekend, but when I first picked a ball in my hand, I fell in love. I plan to transfer after my two years at CVCC, while continuing the sport I love. I live in Alabama now, about two hours away from CVCC in a small town known as Clanton, AL. I went to Chilton County High School and graduated in May of 2019. I have traveled out of the country many times, but my favorite vacationing spot will always be Jamaica. I have a different hair color almost every week, because I get bored of the same colors. I love it here at CVCC. The classes are manageable for student athletes. I would not have picked any other school, or softball program to attend.
